Resistance is Futile
'Resistance is Futile' ; a solo show at Project Space Wapping (PSW), London, 2016. The installation comprises a series of paintings and sculptures exploring themes of precariousness. Paintings are compressed into place using construction acroprops and support poles. Further paintings take support from wooden struts and friction against wall features. The paintings acquire a three dimensional life connected to specific locations in the space. Other works such as mummified apples (wrapped in band-aid), a hung plank that sways in the breeze of a table fan, figures in prayer made with wire coat hangers and a plank aeroplane allude to time, body and impending doom. The processes embedded within the work allude to natural forces and human resistances to them.
